Desi Groover purchased Groover Exterminating from his parents in 2000; as a third-generation owner, he knew how to provide pest control. In 2001, he established Groover Companies and reached out to the Florida SBDC at the University of South Florida in Polk County for help with marketing, manufacturing and distributing the TuCan pneumatic sprayer. “We’ve been involved in a service business. Now we’re trying to sell a product, and I had no idea how to effectively do that. Carl Hadden helped me put together a business plan and business model.”
